No Rest For The Weary

The Tennessee Titans has their much needed mid-season bye this week, but it was hardly a week of rest for them. The Titans made several critical moves this week, as they resigned their franchise QB Marcus Mariota to a four year deal. Both sides of the table walked away satisfied, and now with the signing behind them, the Titans and Mariota are focusing on turning what has been a tumultuous season around for the better. Also seeing extensions were FB Jalston Fowler and WR Tyler Graham.

Shockingly, not seeing everyone were RE Jurrell Casey, TE Delanie Walker, SS Da'Norris Searcy, and ROLB Brian Orakpo. Rumors from the front office State that Casey could possibly see a franchise tag this offseason. Well no word has come in on Walker, there is strong reason to believe that the Titans would like to see him retire wearing their powder blue. The status of Searcy and Orakpo are still up in the air. What's not up in the air is the status of LOLB Derrick Morgan. The team has already stated that they are prepared to move forward without him, and they have made their intentions known. In fact Morgan has already been relegated to second string in preparation for the future.

The Titan's front office didn't stop there, as they acquired C Nash Craft from the Saints' Practice Squad. Craft is a one-year Pro that has had a lot of teams intrigued by his skill set, but has yet to see any significant time on the field in the OMFL. This undrafted talent is now on his third team in his short career, but has impressed the Titans scouting team so much that Coach McCoachface will start him after the bye. To make room for Craft, the Titans released C Brian Schwenke and moved C Drew Carney to the Practice Squad. In other PS acquisitions, the Tampa Bay Bucanneers signed ROLB Dior Brookins from the Titans PS. He was a talented player but found it hard to play in an already log-jammed position group.

The Titans host the division leading Houston Texans this upcoming week.
