Cardinals Demolish Saints in Opener 47-17

Saints traveled to Arizona to open up the GFML season 1 and fell to the Cardinals 47-17. The game was fairly close with the Saints jumping to a quick 3-0 lead after an INT by Sammy Seamster of Carson Palmer. The lead wouldn't last long though as the Cardinals quickly marched down the feild and scored a touchdown to make it 7-3 Cardinals.

Cardinals have one of the best defenses in the leauge, as Coach Nolan uses his FS extremley well. Saints would pay that price as Brees would stare down wideouts and throw 2 back to back picks, one of which was returned for a pick 6.

After an accidental safety, the Cards would get the ball back and hammer the rushing game to pile on the game which was already in hand.

Saints leave this game searching for answers. The rushing game struggled as newly aquired RB Mike Smith lead the saints in rushing with 16 for 64 and 2 touchdowns. The rest of the RB struggled all game as the Cards defense was sending multiple people on first down to force the 2nd and longs. Brees couldn't answer and staring down recievers didn't help as Tyrone picked Brees off twice.

One bright spot was the Saints defense and their young players. The young linebackers stepped up and made plays, just not enough plays.

Saints now look to bounce back at home against the Bucs, who are also coming off a 10-17 loss to the Titans. The showdown in the Bayou will take place soon. Let's see if Brees can bounce back.
