The Saints have ran into the injury bug all season, and a young defense has struggled to find their footing. They have tried different mixes of players and given a lot of young players opporutnities to make a difference. After a sim win last week, due to scheduling, the Saints have shown improvment over the first 10 weeks of the season, on defense. The rookies have came in and made an impact, while the defensive backfield is playing better and better each week. Though the Saints offense has struggled due to injuries. The Saints would be challenged on both sides of the ball today.
Saints would play well on defense, but their offense wouldn't get off the bus, no matter what they tried. After Smith getting a drive rolling and even being able to jump start the Saints offense, the Falcons had an answer - stack the box and threaten the Saints to throw. Which the Saints couldn't do. Smith would finish the day with 77 yards and Demps would toss in another 53, including a long TD run.
Saints would get no passing attack on the day with a stacked box and no time on the blitz. Savage would only pass for 83 yards and 1 INT. The Saints defense held their own but was just on the field for too long. Matt Ryan would just dink and dunk his way to 250+ yards and 2 TDs. The Falcons were just deeper today and the Sainst could get nothing going.
Next up is the playoff bound Bucs.
