Jets Defense Demolishes Saints
Jets Pick Off Zack Mettenburger 3 times as Jets Hammer Saints At Home

The Saints small run came to a screeching halt on Sunday as the Jets came to the Superdome. New Orleans was putting the pieces together as they prepared to get their RBs back and were looking to make a run at the wildcard. Then the Jets happened. The Jets were coming off an uneven start to their season, but their defense is still one of the most physical and steady defenses in the league. Zack Mettenburger has struggled all year with turning the ball over. They have came in clumps of 3-5 each time he has one, and a lot of times they have been back to back, which has killed whole games for the Saints.

Today would be more of the same for New Orleans. The defense, who has gotten leaps and bounds better in the passing attack, has struggled immensely with the rushing attacks which they have faced. Missed tackles, huge holes and gashing rushes had made them one of the worse rushing defenses in the league. Knile Davis would go for 150+ on 22 carries, while the Saints would have 13, unofficial, missed tackles. Most of which were in the backfield, which lead to huge runs by Davis and company.

Mettenburger didn't help the Saints much at all, tossing 3 INTs in crucial areas on the field. The 3 turnovers lead to 13 points, and pretty much the game. While the Saints pass D did their job, holding Petty under 100 yards and 2 INTs, the team as a whole struggled. The OL didn't run block well, and Zack was under constant pressure the whole game.

Morrison kept up his hot streak with 8 catches and 90+ yards with a TD, but the Saints rushing attack struggled with under 50 yards for the 4th time this season. This Saints OL is built to run block, but they have struggled all season to do so. The last three games have been much better, but against a physical Jets defense, today went south quickly as many Jets defenders were in the backfield at the touch of the ball.

Next week the Saints welcome in the Patriots and get back one of their RBs. It will take an epic performance though for the Saints to compete, as the season is now no longer focused on the playoffs but pride.
