Watt Moves to 5th on All Time Sacks List.

The Los Angeles Rams moves to 7-1 for season 72 after beating division rival, San Francisco 49ers, 42-28. The Rams’ defense was able to collect 7 sacks which two of them were from JJ Watt. Watt moved into 5th on the all-time sacks list (142) and has a good chance to jump into fourth place by the end of the season. Coach Dawson held a media conference on Thursday afternoon detailing the first half statistics for the team.

Offense:

Jared Goff is having one of his best seasons since coming into the league, with a QB rating of 109 and have passed for 13 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions. This time last year, he already had 13 interceptions. Alex Collins has been out majority of the season with injuries, only rushing for 155 yards in 4 games. The Rams have decided to use a two back system with Gregory Hillis & Luke Cheek and the coaches hope the recent success continues throughout the rest of the season. Veteran WRs, DeAndre Hopkins and Tavon Austin, leads the team in receptions and yards (35-580, 19-302 respectively).

Defense:

The defense is the heart and soul for the Rams and have been riding on a lot of luck this season. Although the defense is ranked 3rd in points allowed and 8th in passing yards allowed, they set in 22nd in rushing yards allowed. If the Rams want to come out of the 2nd half with a playoff berth, the front 7 will have to step it up. Armond Fountain leads the league with 6 interceptions while Aaron Donald leads the league in sacks with 13. This is Fountain’s contract year so the front office have a tough decision to make to either offer Fountain an extension or rely on backup, Casey Townsend, next season who has similar attributes.

Rams will relax on their bye week then will face two hard-hitting opponents, Seahawks & Giants.
