Rams Offseason Report: Part 2
The Los Angeles Rams made certain moves in the offseason that the front office believes have put them back in the position to battle for the OMFL Trophy in season 72. Coach Dawson went over the notable additions in the first media conference of the new season.
Before the draft on Sunday, Rams traded their 3rd round pick to the Lions for Tavon Austin. Tavon has started to show his age but the coaches believe he will still be productive.
Notable Free Agent Acquisitions:
TE, Hunter Henry: After not resigning Tyler Higbee, the Rams were set to find a starter either in the free agency period or in the draft. Henry possess the hands to catch and block when necessary. It was an added bonus that he was a Razorback in his college days.
LB, DeAndre Levy: Even though the veteran only recorded 7 tackles last season in ATL, the Rams believes Levy can still contribute on run down plays.
WR, Ty Montgomery: With the retirement of Edelman and a few veteran WRs regressing, Montgomery will add much needed speed to the WR corp.
Other noteworthy FA acquisitions: Sherrod Henry, Cory James, James Carswell
Notable Drafted Players:
RB, Gregory Hillis – 2nd Round Pick: Hillis will be a major contributor for the Rams starting out. He offers enough speed and carrying abilities to help Collins in the rushing attack while also receive kick & punt returns.
FB, Chance O’Neill – 4th Round Pick: With the loss of Cory Harkey in the free agency, Rams were in need of a FB. While Chance will need extra reps to start the season off, the front office believes he will be a solid FB.
Other notable drafted players: Dustin McGloin, Scotty Jenson, Gary Allred, Marcus Hood
Los Angeles Rams will face off against the Dallas Cowboys to start off season 72.
