Well, There’s Always Next Year!
The Los Angeles Rams lost to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round Thursday night, 16-15. While the Rams did not make it to the Super Bowl as they were hoping, they did exceed their season’s expectations. “We were able to double our win count from last season but I felt we got a little too conservative during crucial times in the season that ultimately cost us a few games”. Coach Dawson went over the season stats and individual awards during the annual donor’s banquet.
Next year is Jared Goff’s contract year so he has much to prove coming into Season 71. He ended the season with 3128 passing yards, 15 passing TDs and 16 INTs. Throughout the season, the media and fans praised Goff’s leadership and blamed his poor statistical season on the Dawson’s play calling. The offense relied heavily on RB, Alex Collins. He was a top five RB in the league all throughout the year with 1514 rushing yards (271 cr-19td). Coach Dawson was proud to award him the Rams’ Offensive Player of the Year Award.
The coaches are expecting rookies, Dre Sellers and Carey Townsend, to play more snaps and make an impact next season. Aaron Donald had a great chance of breaking the season sack record but he fell short after only getting 1 sack in the last three regular season games. While it was no surprised, Aaron Donald was awarded the Rams’ Defensive Player of the Year Award. Carey Townsend was third on the team in solo tackles with 38; he was awarded the Hustle Player of the Year Award.
After the ceremony, Coach Dawson mentioned to the Los Angeles Telegraph that the team will have an updated trade block up soon and is planning to be active in the free agent period.
