(AP) Landover, MD - The 3-1 Panthers would travel to Washington to take on the 2-1 Redskins in what was to be a big test for new Head Coach Rob Mass. It started out just how the Panthers wanted as Luke Keuchly had 2 first quarter INT's as the Redskins turned the ball over 4 times in the first half and a 17-0 early Panther lead. The Redskins however would get a few turnovers over their own to strike back quickly and make it 17-14 at the half.
The Redskins defense was dominant all day specially against the run and would seem tot ake control of the game as they scored 10 points in the 3rd to take a 24-17 lead. The Panthers just couldnt seem to put anything together in the 2nd half until they got a lucky break. On 3rd and 12 Blake would complete a screen pass but it would come up 1 yard short as the Skins would bring out the punt team with around 1:45 to go.
The Panthers would take advantage moving the ball downfield and finally Cam stepped up and delivered a strike downfield to Kelvin Benjamin for what looked to be the game tying TD pass. However the Panthers had other plans with just :35 and would instead elect to go for 2 and the win. Michael would take the toss getting tot he edge around the Redskin defenders to take a 25-24 lead.
The Skins had one last shot with all 3 timeouts but the rookie Prince Griffin would get his first INT of his career to close the game out and preserve the Pantrhers win.
