Weekly Addition of "Jets Press"

by: Fireman Ed

Blog: NY Post

We were able to catch up with the head coach of the New York Jets for our weekly interview.  Below is a transcript of that interview with Coach Dawgs.

Fireman Ed:  Coach, it is great to have you back with us for another weekly addition of "Jets Press".

Coach Dawgs:  Thanks for having me, it is always great to be here.

Fireman Ed:  Coach, you were able to get your first win as an GFML head coach this week vs the Dolphins, tell us how that felt.

Coach Dawgs:  It was a great feeling for all of us, I was very proud of the way our guys played in the game.  We had another OT game, and thankfully for us, the result went in our favor this time around.  In the end, it was only one Win, we want to continue to build on that and keep getting better each week.

Fireman Ed:  How is Bryce Petty doing after the injury?  Will he be able to play after the bye week vs the Bills?

Coach Dawgs:  Bryce is going to be fine, he should be ready to go vs the Bills.  If he isn't, Ryan (Lindley) has proven he can step in and do the job for us.  He played great in relief of Bryce and we are confident he can play if called upon.

Fireman Ed:  With Devin Smith ruled out for the next few games, who do you see stepping in for him at the slot WR spot?

Coach Dawgs:  Well, I think a few different guys will get a chance to make some plays for us.  We have of course Jeremy Kerley and Brian Hartline who are both veteran guys who have proven themselves in this league.  Then you have a guy like Ace Sanders who we just added this week who will get his chance as well.  He has been explosive in practice, so we are excited to see what he brings to the table for us.

Fireman Ed:  Do you plan on making any changes in the secondary?  After the game, you mentioned that no players jobs were safe.

Coach Dawgs:  We are still working in some different guys in practice to see who our best group is.  We have a lot of talent back there, we just have to make sure we are coaching them up and getting them in the right positions to make plays for us.  I believe we will be just fine back there.

Fireman Ed:  Thank you for your time again Coach, we look forward to sitting down again next week.

Coach Dawgs:  Thanks for having me again, see you next time.
