The Philadelphia Eagles have made some major moves in their effort to become a playoff team this season in acquiring Deion Jones and Ron Rood Jr. via trade. The Seattle Seahawks were unable to retain the expiring contract of Deion Jones despite being tied for first in the NFC West as the Eagles came calling with an offer that couldn't be refused.
The Eagles are sending a 1st, 2nd, and 4th round pick to the Seahawks for the talents of LB Deion Jones and they will also take on the contract of Eli Harold who may or may not find a role with the team in the early stages. Philadelphia also contacted the Detroit Lions who were reportedly upset with the play of QB Brent Novak. The Lions were willing to deal with the Eagles and obtained Carson Wentz, who fits the Detroit system and Rashod Seward, a guy the Detroit GM seems to love from his old days in Philadelphia.
The Eagles acquire a known quantity in QB Brent Novak (A player that GM Ducks drafted in the 2017 draft), while unloading the Carson Wentz contract, and obtaining a starting CB that was a major need for the Eagles defense in Ron Rood Jr. The Eagles have now re-tooled the defense in a way that makes the present and future a more promising outlook. It was very important for Philly to add defensive backfield help being in a division with Odell Beckham Jr., Landon French, and Josh Doctson.
