As Chiefs fans are excited about the off-season moves that have been made, especially the rookie draft. Drafting the highly praised QB Patrick Mahomes from Texas Tech has brought lots of excitement to a QB battle in camp as Mahomes continues to show his growth and progression of understanding the game while learning the Chiefs playbook and offense. His arm strength is something we haven't seen since Jamarcus Russell many are saying. With the the return of Travis Kelce and playmaker Tyreek Hill and the addition of Kareem Hunt at RB in the rookie draft this offense has lots of new pieces and a whole new look. It will be exciting to see who wins the QB battle out of camp for week 1. As for the defense the leadership of Eric Berry, Justin Houston, and Derrick Johnson returning to lead a solid unit. Also features ethe young playmaker Marcus Peters and Chris Jones this defense looks to be a top unit in the league again. While the offense may have some young inexpericed guys and are trying to figure out their rhythm it may be important for this defense to be as good as they have been in recent years! Thoughts from coach BigHurt in camp, "we have a great competition going on here at the QB position but also at the WR position. With the release of veteran Maclin, we need to find someone who is going to step up and make plays on the outside. The guys have come into camp healthy on both sides and have gotten after it. I'm excited for week 1 and once again the AFC West is going to be a gauntlet and in my mind may be the best division in the league!" Well that's it from Chiefs camp for this week. Stay tuned and keep an eye on these position battles as things wind down to week 1 and the final roster spots are determined for the 53 man roster! Go Chiefs!
