Cards Announce Roster Moves After Week 1

The Cardinals have announced several roster moves today. After a brutal lose in Week 1, the Cards have announced the hiring of a new head coach and roster moves.

Jimbo Fisher is the new head coach for Owner Nate LeJeune. "He's the guy I have been wanting and we go back to our days at LSU. With all of those LSU players here and his great run in college, why wouldn't we get him to come coach our new team?" Jimbo brings in a new staff who were looking to make moves immediately.

T - Jake Long signed. Long will come in and immediately take over the RT spot to help secure some protection issues that the Cardinals faced last week. Long brings experience and strength to help sure up a struggling yet young line.

CB - D'Joun Smith signed. Smith will bring in a young attitude and some potential starting skills. The backup corner backs behind PP7 are struggling and the Cards are looking for playmakers to come in and make things happen. This is going to be a fast defense who flies to the ball, and Smith is looking to add to that. Look for Smith to get some Nickle playing time pretty quickly.

Cardinals also signed 5 practice squad players.

WR - Kenny Bell signed to PS. The speedy 1st year wideout has some history with this staff and they wasted no time to bring him in. The tall and speedy Bell has an opportunity to earn his way into the starting lineup later this year or even next. Look for Bell to get his chance soon.

FB - Neal Sterling signed to PS. The very skilled and speedy receiving FB has an opportunity as a true FB to earn a spot with the Cards. He is very raw but has lots of potential. Look for this staff to work with him over the next two seasons.

HB - Kenny Hilliard signed to PS.  The ex-LSU running back joins LSU-West with the Cards. The staff loves his potential to be a power back for the Cardinals and even possibly swap over to FB.

CB - Makinton Dormant signed to PS. The young and tall CB brings in playmaking ability in from college, but he is raw - really raw. Look for Dormant to get some time with the PS and earn his way into a backup role by next season.

HB - Corey Grant signed to PS. The speedy 1st year back will add to a powerful backfield in Arizona. Look for Corey to work on his receiving skills and be a good 3rd down back for the Cardinals in the near future.

Cardinals also announce two trades for Week 2.

Cardinals trade a 4th rounder to the Bills for QB C. Jones. With an aging but good veteran QB on their team, the Cards needed to ensure the future - and they did just that by trading for Jones. Jones may also get the chance to start and win this job right off from the start of his time in Arizona.

Cards trade OLB Jones to the Saints for DT Jenkins and CB Harris. They are looking to add some play making and youth to the middle of their line and to their corner backs.

With these moves, the Cards are looking to get younger and quicker to continue to make their run in the OMFL and playoffs.
