Six Turnovers Lead Bills to 38-14 Victory Over Patriots
The Buffalo Bills travelled to Foxboro this week to take on the New England Patriots and wound up trailing 14-10 at the half, with the division looking as though it may be in jeopardy down the stretch with a surging Patriots team. With the Patriots receiving the ball in the second half, the game looked as though it could be out of reach after the first possession of the second half.
On the second-half kickoff, the Bills were able to force a fumble and gain possession on the 26 yard line and would score on the first play of the drive on a toss play to Derrick Henry. The Bills would not trail for the rest of the game.
The Bills defense would swarm Carson Palmer's passes, picking him off four times, while forcing an additional fumble during the game. By the end of the game, Buffalo would be +6 in the turnover battle.
Leaders on the defense for the Bills were Deone Bucannon and Kevin Johnson, who combined for three interceptions and a touchdown. Bucannon is just one interception away from the single-season record in interceptions with 13.
On the offensive side, Bretty Hundley would find Sammy Watkins for a pair of TD passes, giving the duo six touchdown connections on the year. The 112 yard game was Watkins's second highest yardage total on the season and tied his highest catch total with six receptions.
Derrick Henry continued his streak of rushing touchdowns, scoring his fourth rushing touchdown in three games.
The Bills travel to Tampa Bay next week and look to keep their undefeated record on the road. Adolphus Washington will be starting in Calais Campbell's spot during next week's game again, and other starters may be sitting depending on the results of the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans next games.
The Bills clinch the number one seed if the Broncos lose in week 14-17 and if the Titans lose in week 15-17. If the Bills win one of their next three, they clinch the number one seed.
