After a big week one win over the Ravens, the Buffalo Bills hosted their first divisional opponent when the Jets came to visit New Era Field. Buffalo got off to a slow start in the first quarter after their first drive ended in a fumble, but went on to score the first 21 points of the game.
The Bills were led on offense by the arm of Tyrod Taylor, as he threw for over 200 yards and provided 3 TD passes. The first TD of the game for the Bills came on a long touchdown pass to Marquise Goodwin as he took on a slower defender on a wheel route.
Taylor was later able to connect a couple of times with Sammy Watkins for touchdowns.
The real story of the game was on the defensive side, where the Buffalo defense swarmed Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets offense and forced 6 turnovers; all interceptions. Fitzpatrick was able to hit the checkdown receivers, but seemingly anytime he tried to throw downfield, the ball ended up in the hands of a Buffalo defender.
The Bills defense was able to stifle the run game as well. Matt Forte was held to under 30 yards rushing on 13 carries on what was a tough day for the veteran out of Tulane.
Next week, the Bills will have a tough test as they take on the short-tenured former Bill Cardale Jones and the Arizona Cardinals. Buffalo looks to continue their strong start and improve to 3-0 on the season.
