Niners Nation presents: Rookie Spotlight 2nd round pick QB Mason Mullins

QB  Mason Mullins   6'2" 220 lbs  Texas A&M  83 ovr

The 49ers felt that the top of the quarterback class was rich for the first two rounds and by taking CB Woods with the first pick, they thought there would be a good chance of Mullins still being around for their 2nd pick.  When you look back on his illustrious career at Texas A&M you see a player with poise and consistency(91).  He has ice in his veins when the moments are at their biggest.  He's got a rocket for an arm(91) with impressive accuracy on the short(85) to medium(86) range passes.  Has decent long ball accuracy for a rookie (72).

Mullins is a left handed quarterback and the fans in San Francisco can't help but be reminded of another particular lefty who played under center years ago.  But unlike Steven Young, Mullins will not be groomed behind the likes of a quarterback like Hall of Famer Joe Montana, no, he will be thrown to the wolves and forced to fight and claw his way to quarterback glory in his rookie season.  He has already been named the starter by coach Motorgut after seeing his play and demeanor in camp.
