Dolphins Player Profile: Jaelen Phillips

by Sliptom | 3 years ago | 1 Comments

In this edition of player profiles, we are focusing on 2nd year passrusher Jaelan Phillips. Following an unconventional college football career ending at the University of Miami, Phillips was selected by none other than the Miami Dolphins in the 1st round of the 2021 NFL draft. Phillips rewarded that decision with a strong rookie season, playing in every game and recording 45 tackles and an impressive 8 sacks. So far in his 2nd season, Phillips only seems to have grown as a passrusher, already registering 6 sacks through 9 games, good for the team lead. It hasn't been all positive in his 2nd season however, as Phillips may have taken a step back in the run game, registering only 14 tackles to this point. Regardless, the team views Phillips as a cornerstone of the defense going forward and considering how well he has played through only 1 and a half seasons, the sky would appear to be the limit for the young passrusher.
