Titans' Free Agency Recap, Notes Going into the Draft

by Sliptom | 4 years ago | 0 Comments

The Titans were active early on in free agency, adding OL David Andrews to replace the retired J.C Tretter. Additionally, they added the top two free agent CBs available, signing Kenny Moore and Jonathan Jones to 1-year deals to bolster a secondary that consistently got burnt last year. Coach Mike Vrabel stated that you could expect to see the team play a very matchup heavy defense in the secondary, with CB D.J Brown likely to have a significant role as well. Other notable signings included the signing of CB Michael Rice to a 4 year-deal, who the team likely intends to develop into a contributor in the future, as well as K Zane Gonzalez to a 1 year-deal. The team sat out the rest of free agency as a result of being up against the cap. Any other significant additions to the team will likely occur through the draft, where the team does not have a 1st round pick however does have multiple 2nd and 3rd round picks to work with. MSR Draft analyst Dubya identified LB, DT, and CB as team needs going into the draft. While the team has presumptive starters at each of those positions, there is no debate the team needs as much talent as they can get on defense to improve their bottom-10 defense from a season ago.
