Power rankings:
#32: Ravens - We are going on a trip in our favorite rocket ship, ZOOMING THROUGH THE SKIES, I'M NEVER COMING BACK. See ya next year, Lamar.
#31: Raiders - Who?
#30: Lions - Of course Jake switched off of them, have a new owner, can’t put them higher yet.
#29: Bucs - The Bucs only have one win on the season and are coming off a loss to the giants. The Bucs do not have a good offense, and they also don’t have a good defense. Jameis Winston has thrown 5 more touchdowns than interceptions.
#28: Seahawks - The Seahawks are currently sitting with a record of 3-10. The Seahawks do not have a great offense as Russell Wilson has thrown 7 more picks than touchdowns, and their lead running back TJ Yeldon only has 289 yards and one touchdown. Earl Thomas is their lone star on defense and he leads the team in tackles and interceptions. The seahawks are last in their division and aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
#27: Jets - The Jets are currently in a battle with fins for last place in the afc east, and they are tanking for bock. The New York fournette's... I mean jets... can not really pass the ball, they don’t even have a consistent qb. Fournette remains to be a beast over 1200 rushing yards. On defense, the jets aren’t great but they have some good players in Jamal Adams and linebacker Raekwon McMillan. Will the jets be great with bock, or will they just be the same.
#26: Niners - The niners have an average offense with Paul Nicholson at the helm. On defense, they do not really have any stars that can get them to the playoffs. The niners are 3rd in their division, and at this point, their playoff chances are very small. In the offseason, if they add a couple stars, they could be contenders.
#25: Packers -Aaron Rodgers is having a pretty good season with 2900 yards, but he has thrown one more interception than actual touchdowns. Linebacker Blake Martinez has emerged as a leader for their defense, with 76 tackles and 5 sacks. They even got double doink as their kicker. The packers are in a tough division with Vikings, but with time they could get into the playoffs.
#24: Dolphins- The dolphins are a team with an owner in his first full season. Their offense is below average with quarterback Pat White throwing the ball to the other team like it’s a hot potato. Minkah Fitzpatrick remains a stud as he leads the team in tackles and interceptions. If the dolphins can fix their offensive struggles, they can make some noise. They are in a tough division with patriots and bills always competing for the top spot, will they be able to get into the mix next year?
#23: Bengals - The bengals have plenty of star power, but they still can’t pile up wins. They have the number one passing offense, but their run game is a liability. The bengals also do not play great defense, which teams attack and that is why the bengals only have 5 wins. With the Steelers being the one seed in the afc, the bengals are going to need to fix their defense fast.
#22: Titans - The titans are a long way from being good. Both offense and defense are ranked below 25. The titans don’t have enough weapons to win games and that showed this year. At this point, a total rebuild may be needed to patch every weakness of this team. The titans aren’t in too tough of a division but jags are the leaders with their stellar defense.
#21: Browns - The browns have a below average offense and defense coming in with a record of 5-8. The browns are officially eliminated from the playoffs and have a long offseason ahead of them. The browns do have some pieces to build around though including Baker Mayfield, Myles Garrett, and Todd Gurley. Baker has thrown for 3,392 yards and 20 touchdowns, but he also has 28 picks. The browns may want to look at o-line in the offseason with Baker Mayfield getting sacked 32 times. Star edge rusher Myles Garrett has 12.5 sacks on the season, and is looking for more.
#20: Falcons - Next up on the list is the falcons. Rip Brad :(. The falcons have an odd aspect to their team where they have a great passing offense, but also a very bad passing defense. The falcons are in a tough spot in their division with the leader being the undefeated panthers. Tevin Coleman has officially become the teams main back with 881 rushing yards, Devonta Freeman is now just in his shadow. T.Y. Hilton is having a solid season with nearly 800 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. Deion Jones is having a great season with 68 tackles, 11 sacks, and 4 interceptions.
#19: Texans - The texans have a subpar offense and defense. One key upcoming free agent for them is J.J.Watt. If Watt somehow does get to free agency, he will be a very large target within free agency. The texans are in a competitive division along with Jaguars and Colts, and although they are eliminated this season, they can always fight next year. Deshaun Watson and Will Fuller V are both having wonderful seasons. Watson has thrown 30 touchdowns on the year with a passer rating of 97.3. Fuller has 825 receiving yards and also 9 touchdowns to go with it.
#18: Broncos - The big pad boys have a great overall offense, but strangely have a horrible defense. Defense was what won the broncos the super bowl vs. the panthers in super bowl 50, and the defense has faded ever since. For the offense though, the broncos can both run and pass the ball against you. Offseason-acquired Breshad Perriman has been balling for the broncos with 1068 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. His speed has been well put to use. On defense, Von Miller has 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, and also 36 tackles. Technically, the Broncos aren’t eliminated just yet, but they will have to solve their defensive issues if they want to make some noise.
#17: Giants - Jake’s new team until the end of the season when he switches again. The giants have had all odds against them this season with little talent on the roster besides running back Saquon Barkley, and the giants actually have not done too much. They are sitting at 6-8, while being tied for last in the division with Cowboys, and having no chance to make the playoffs. Statistically, the Giants do not have a good offense or defense. Quarterback Devin Booth has thrown 3500 yards, but it has not been enough to rack up wins. If the giants can add a good piece to their secondary in the offseason, they can be for real.
#16: Cowboys - Something appears to be wrong with the cowboys. This will be the first season this year that they will miss the playoffs. They are normally a very dominant team who is typically a lock for the playoffs, but not this year. The reason for this losing may be to blame for their offense who is ranked 21 overall. Somehow, the cowboys are currently sitting in fourth in their division with a record of 6-8. Is this sudden losing enough for me to drop them way down, no, but if they want to remain a top team, things will need to be fixed fast. Dak Prescott has only thrown 16 touchdowns on the season, which is not enough for this competitive league. Zeke does have 11 touchdowns on the season with nearly 900 years, he has been their one bright spot. Jaylon Smith has 55 tackles, but the Cowboys are in dire need of another playmaker on defense.
#15: Saints - The saints have a new owner, so who knows how the direction of this team will go. Does the new owner want to build off the pieces he has, or will he go on a total rebuild quest in in the offseason. The saints are sitting behind panthers and their division, and are eliminated from the playoffs. The saints had a balanced offense and defense, but not being top 10 in either category is hurting them. Ryland Ridgeway may not have a ton of passing yards, but he does have plenty of touchdowns with 22. Alvin Kamara has been a dominant back with 1323 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns. Linebacker Renardo Holt has had a solid season for their defense with 51 tackles, 4 sacks, and three interceptions.
#14: Jaguars - How about that defense? The Jaguars have one heck of a secondary that is very tough to throw against. The Jaguars also have a good passing offense, but they are not as consistent as they would like to be running the ball. Dede Westbrook has absolutely went off for the Jaguars this season. He has 1427 receiving yards with 6 touchdowns. Myles Jack has 57 tackles along with 8 picks on the year, another great player for this jags defense. The Jaguars are currently tied for first in their division, so they will have to win out if they do not want to be eliminated.
#13: Redskins - Sony has been the definition of inconsistent this season. He is either playing good, or just garbage. The redskins have an on-par offense, but their defense is close to being top 10. They may lose a piece of their defense after this season with Vontaze Burfict being a free agent. The Redskins aren’t eliminated from the playoffs just yet, but they are going to have to win out for a chance. Derrius Guice is having a great season with 1399 yards and 15 touchdowns. On defense, linebacker Jordan Hicks is balling out with 39 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 5 interceptions. If the Redskins want to make the playoffs, their inconsistency can not show.
#12: Patriots - The Patriots are going to have to fight for a playoff spot. They are second in the division 2 games behind the bills, but they play the bills next week which will be a big game. The Patriots have a top ten offense and defense, but they can not pull out in some of the close games. David Andrews is an upcoming free agent for the Pats (plz no reserve again). Qb Joey Lloyd is the future for them with 36 touchdowns and nearly 3600 yards. The Patriots also have the star wideout that pairs well with Lloyd in Deandre Hopkins who has 5 touchdowns and 1048 yards. Outside linebacker Marquis Flowers who has been unnoticed by teams has 30 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 interceptions. Flowers is a dangerous player all around and should be looked at more. The Patriots will need to win the close games if they want to make the playoffs.
#11: Eagles - The eagles are winning their division, but are still placed at 11. The eagles do not have a great offense, but their defense is what is winning them games. They may lose a key part of their offense too in Alshon Jeffery with him facing free agency after this season. The eagles can not give up the division if they want the playoffs in a tight nfc race. The eagles do not have any standout stars on offense or defense.
#10: Chargers - The chargers are tied for first with the chiefs for their division. The chargers have a top 15 offense and defense, but are not dominant on either side. Hunter Henry who is a 99 overall has been the best pass catcher for the chargers with 746 yards and 8 touchdowns. Jatavis brown also has had 10 interceptions for the chargers. The chargers have actually used two different qbs this season in Jimmy Garoppolo, and Mason Rudolph. Joey Bosa has not lived up to his elite end status as he only has 7 sacks on the season. Star corner for the chargers Desmond King has 6 interceptions on the season. The chargers will need to fight hard for their playoff spot.
#9: Bills - Oh the Bills. Every week they are either bragging about how good they are, or they are raging threatening to quit every time. The bills do have the number one defense in points allowed, but the twelfth overall offense is hurting them. Unless the Bills can figure out offense fast, they are not capable of getting wins in the playoffs. They are going to be losing tight end Zach Ertz into free agency, so they will have to make moves in offseason. The Bills are first in their division, and must win 1 of 2 of their last games to actually clinch playoffs. They have a tough matchup vs. Patriots and play texans week 17. If the Bills can get a steady passing offense, they can be a problem, they just can not get consistent with it. Running back Kareem Hunt has over 1000 rushing yards on the season and 13 touchdowns. Rashard Rainer has emerged as a star corner for the Bills with 46 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, and 5 interceptions. The Bills must find a passing game to win.
#8: Colts - The Colts are coming off a huge win over the Bills. They are tied with Jaguars for their division, so playoffs are there for them, they just need to take it. The Colts have the 10th offense overall, and 15th overall defense. The top free agent they may lose is Brandon Graham. Graham is an elite edge rusher, so he will be a major piece in FA. Keenan Allen has 987 yards on the year, so he has performed to expectations. Andrew Luck has been a beast this season with 3887 yards and 38 touchdowns. The colts have the opportunity, they just have to take it.
#7: Rams - The Rams are shockingly not first in their division. The Rams have the 8th overall ranked offense, and the 14th overall defense. The Rams top players are Jared Goff, and Aaron Donald. Jared Goff has 3488 and 30 touchdowns on the season. Aaron Donald has been a force on the d-line with 10 sacks. The Rams may lose a key piece of their offense with Rob Gronk being an upcoming free agent. Believe it or not, the Rams have to win out to make the playoffs.
#6: Chiefs - Sammy Boy comes in at #6. He has been taking some losses recently, but we all know his offense can explode at any minute. The Chiefs have so many weapons on offense including Francis Turner and speedy Tyreek Hill. mahomes has thrown around 2900 yards on the season and 31 touchdowns. Mahomes leads the number one offense in the league. Both tyreek and Francis Turner have over 1000 yards at their position with Turner having 1474 yards rushing. The chiefs defense is average and is led by kendall Fuller who has 5 picks and 35 tackles. The chiefs control their own destiny, and they have a very solid chance for playoffs.
#5: Cardinals - How about the Cardinals? They joined after a 2-2 start by the previous owner and they have taken every opportunity they have had for the better. They now sit on top of the division with a record of 9-1 since joining. They are even on top of the rams. They have the 9th overall offense, and the fourth overall defense. Their offense is led by signal man Josh Rosen. Rosen has thrown 3422 yards and 29 touchdowns. The Cardinals can score when it counts, but they can also get the stops they need. As long as they do not choke, the Cardinals should make the playoffs.
#4: Vikings - The Vikings are one loss behind Bears in the division. The Vikings have the 4th overall offense, and the 6th overall defense. And Boy their roster is stacked. Rookie qb Big Arm Throw Guy has 38 touchdowns on the season to pair with 3285 yards. Running Back Melvin Gordon has over 1100 rushing yards along with 6 touchdowns. The vikings do not have a 1000 yard receiver yet, but they have options with Odell and Diggs. Danielle Hunter has been an absolute monster for the Vikings. He has 22 sacks, and the Vikings linebackers and secondary give the d-line time to get to the qb. If the vikings do in fact make the playoffs, watch out nfc, they are a very talented roster.
#3: Steelers - The Steelers come in at number three riding the number one seed in the AFC. Rumors are that Steelers have the easiest schedule, but still, only having one loss is a good thing. The steelers have the 5th overall offense and the third overall defense. The steelers have already clinched playoffs, they are just fighting for the one-seed, but as long as nothing goes wrong, it should work out for them. The Steelers have 39 touchdown passes on the season to go with Leveon’s 989 yards and 5 touchdown season. The steelers have two receivers over 1000 yards receiving in JuJu, and Robby Anderson. The Steelers have a strong defense led by Shazier and Telvin Smith. The steelers are currently the favorites for the super bowl from the AFC side of things.
#2: Bears - The Bears have been a great team all season. After the previous owner quit after starting 3-1, the 2-2 cardinals took over and have done nothing but good with them. The Bears have the third overall offense, and they also have the second best defense behind the Bills. The Bears offense is led by Donterius Haynes who has 3254 passing yards, and 24 touchdowns. Allen Robinson has been a great receiver for the Bears with 1163 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. After Tarik has gone down for basically the whole season, Robert Kelly has taken over and has been a very solid back for the Bears. The Defense is led by Roquan Smith with 46 tackles and five interceptions. Watch out for the Bears in the playoffs, they will be making some noise.
#1: Panthers - And finally, we get to the number one spot, The Panthers. The Panthers have shown every aspect of being the top team in the league. They Are currently undefeated and have defeated opponents such as the bills and the patriots. The Panthers are already in playoffs so that is not a priority for them. The only tough game they have left is the bears. The Panthers have the second best offense behind the chiefs, and they also have a top 5 defense. There is no weakness to the Panthers game. With no big name free agents coming up, the Panthers will be a force for years to come. Cam Newton has 24 touchdowns on the season along with 3103 yards. D.J. Moore has been a great receiver for the Panthers with 1343 yards and 9 touchdowns. On defense, Ukeme Eligwe (yes, you read that right) has been a star. He has 32 tackles and 14 interceptions. Will anybody be able to stop the Panthers, or will they go undefeated and win the super bowl.
