Mac’s Way Too Late Power Rankings

One: Sock-Corn-Noodles

Look, Sock may have gone 9-7 in the regular season, but when you go through the absolute gauntlet that is Strait, Dream, and Bali, to just make the Super Bowl? This is Miracle on Ice level under dog play and my man finished the deal beating his Finland, the Raheem Mostert show in San Francisco for the Super Bowl, nobody else deserves to be at number one over Sock as of right now.

Two: Dream

Season 1’s Super Bowl Champion, Two Time, Reigning AFC West Champion, Dream comes in at the two spot. A perennial power in GO, Dream did end up falling to the Dolphins in the playoffs and also in week 1. He is the reigning champion in arguably the toughest division in the toughest conference in GO. These Chiefs deserve all the credit they can get. He continues to mix it up, trading for Danielle Hunter in the offseason to bolster and already stout defense. The Chiefs will continue to be perennial Super Bowl Contenders.

Three: Baliwag

The Jaguars finished 2021 with the best record in the league at 14-2. Much of this was on the arm of an up and coming legend, second year quarterback Dale Townsend, and a stout defense. Bali has always been good at spreading the ball around, never keying on one specific target and reading the defense well. Having that efficient offense alongside one of the best young defenses in the league with big names like CJ Henderson, Josh Allen, and K’Lavon Chaisson, this team is young and already the top echelon in the league. Expect the Jaguars to be knocking on the Super Bowl door sooner rather than later.

Four: Tim

The Cleveland Browns finished 13-3 in the 2021 season. This team is built on a heavy run game, featuring Nick Chubb and a blossoming passing game. The addition of Justin Jefferson to the already spectacular Calvin Ridley and Marquise Goodwin. This team has a spectacular pass defense with lockdown corner Denzel Ward, ball hawking safety Allen Covington, and two premier pass rushers in Myles Garrett and Sylvester Hampton. Tim falling to number four is kind of crazy considering how good he is year in and year out, but the AFC really is that tough this Madden.

Five: NYGFans10

With Danny Dimes replacing Jordan Ta’amu, the already perennial playoff Lions are looking to make a leap forward with an actual (Madden) quarterback. The only thing that has kept this team back so far has been quarterback play, being a single overthrow by Matthew Stafford away from a 2020 Super Bowl appearance and Ta’amu limited them significantly in season 2. All of that disappears in 2022 with Daniel Jones at the helm and with stand outs Odell Beckham and Deandre Swift, the Lions are my favorites to win the NFC in 2022.

Six: Strait Wreckn

Apparently, an old dog can learn new tricks, because the run heavy team that relied on elite user skills and defense had the number one receiver in Season 2. Josh Allen was the best quarterback last year and Will Banyard was the league’s best receiver. This team still has workhorse King Henry, making them one of the most complete offenses and a serious threat to win it all. They are going to need to figure out something about their in-division rivals, The Jacksonville Jaguars, first if they want to make that dream happen.

Seven: D K

Elite user safety play, strong run game, underrated passing game, and an insane pass rush. DK fills this criteria year in and year out. Lack of competition in the NFC is the main reason for his rating being this low, but nobody is ever happy to see the Football Team as their opponent. With the 49ers having to let some major players walk, DKs Madden 2021 kryptonite may be limited in Season 3 and will make the Redskins path to the Super Bowl significantly clearer.

Eight: $huffleman

Teams are relieved every time they touchdown in LAX because Shuffle has turned this city into a No-Fly Zone. Elite corner backs like Baskerville, Gilmore, and Lamont Lewis are just the tip of the iceberg. Safeties Jamal Adams, Marcus Williams, and Jonathan Abram make up the back end of the leagues best secondary. Then you get to a front seven that includes Joey Bosa and Devin White. All of that without even mentioning their offense with the leagues fastest man, Tyreek Hill, Chase Claypool, and a true lightning bolt of a running back in second year speedster Maurice Kelley. This team is built to help get Aaron Rodgers to another Super Bowl, but it will be tough sledding to be able to get out of the AFC West on top much less the Conference Playoffs.

Nine: Radio

Henry. Ruggs. III. This man has been the face of the Raiders franchise since he walked in the door, but man has been a monster. Add on the Cheetah Matt Breida and you have a recipe for disaster for all opposing defenses. JJ Watt gives a strong veteran presence to this defense who will be to show the young gun George Arthur the ropes. Backing up that pass rush are two strong young safeties in K’von Wallace and Grant Delpit will help shore up the back end and continue to give offenses trouble.

Ten: Zcanes

The king of the wiggle sticks. Kyler Murray and Manny Hampton are the spark plugs on this elite rushing attack that is impossible to stop, you really only can just hope to slow them down. Isabella’s makes up for any mistake if a team overcommits with back breaking speed. It doesn’t get any better when you get the ball back after they score too when you have to deal with one of the best defensive players in the league, the 6’4 94 speed 96 acceleration middle linebacker, Isaiah Simmons. The NFC West is tough but I expect Z to repeat.

Eleven: Drake

Raheem the Dream Mostert and the boys. The offense runs through Mostert but this offense is pretty balanced with Pettis, Aiyuk, Samuel and Kittle all contributing. They definitely are taking a step back at QB after Jimmy G walked in free agency. Devin McCourty and Desmond Trufant are also playing for different teams this season, the duo accounted for 11 picks and 3 touchdowns in 2021, making them tough to replace. Regardless of these losses, Drake still has an elite offensive line and the best defensive line in the league. The reigning NFC champion comes in as the third team in the NFC and with the added draft capital from the Saints he will look to repeat last season success.

Twelve: Niles

Niles won the NFC South in 2021, which is arguably the toughest division we have in GO this year. Teddy Bridgewater emerged as an elite QB this last season, making an appearance in the Pro Bowl. Having weapons all around him in DJ Moore, Christian McCafferty, and rookie WR Tyree Bigsby. On the defensive end, adding AJ Terrell and Adrian Amos into the secondary will bolster an already strong unit lead by Donte Jackson. This move will help an already strong front seven and should help the Panthers in their attempt to repeat in the division.

Thirteen: Ray

Ray comes in just barely behind the Panthers, and it really comes down to the new man under center in Tampa Bay. It’s tough for anyone to fill the shoes of the GOAT, but Jason Reede is looking to improve on a tough start and take Tampa Bay back to the playoffs. He is not alone in this endeavor though, the Bucs still have a loaded offense with elite players at all skill positions led by Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Ronald Jones. The defense will look to improve off of a rough 2021 and hopefully do a better job slowing down opposing offenses.

Fourteen: Mac

Joe Burrow and Company hope to return to the playoffs and fix some late season interception issues. The addition of Austin Ekeler and Harrison Smith look to be huge and the Saints have to expect for second overall pick Joe Sims to be an instant contributor.

Fifteen: BlakBuddah

The Vikings are an interesting team, they finished 7 and 9 in 2021, but after making three picks in the first round, including the first overall selection, they are a team that should be watched to make a huge jump up these ratings by midseason. Deandre Young will be an instant contributor at corner and will limit the options opposing teams have significantly. Wide receive Daniel Morse will add to an already strong passing game led by crossover quarterback Tyler Chase and Dalvin Cook. This team also added Von Miller and Emory Essex, which will improve significantly both lines of scrimmage. While they come in at fifteen, I would not be surprised at all to see them move to the top of an NFC that lacks any real identity.

Sixteen: JamesBond

The Steelers have an absolutely insane defense, led by Minkah Fitzpatrick, Devin Bush, and Cameron Heyward. The offense in Pittsburg runs through Randolph, and if Jalen Hurts can be the answer at quarterback this team can be a real problem. They will look to dethrone the reigning Browns and make a serious push this year.

Seventeen: Zebe/Rave

This man is an absolute wildcard. Similar to the Lions, his 2021 season was marred by poor quarterback play, but unlike the Lions they do not seems to have found their answer with a former 2019 first round quarterback. If Haskins can slow down on the turnovers, this team will return to the top of the NFC with an elite pass defense in Tre’ Davious White, Matthew Patton, and Deion Jones. This team all comes down to QB play so they really have to hope to get settled at the helm.

Eighteen: AustinLasVegas

The Rams have three ninety-nine overall players in Jalen Ramsey, Aaron Donald, and Ricky Rodgers. Having three of your starters being the best at their position is absolutely insane, and since adding two burners at wide receiver in Courtland Reddick and Allen Shields, this team will be tough to deal with. Tom Brady looks to finish his career on a high note with assets all around him. This team finished 8-8 in 2021 and are another candidate to surprise people in the NFC.

Nineteen: Mark

The Buffalo Bills have been a revolving door at every single position outside of quarterback. According to Mark’s economic policy, no QB will be paid, and this has helped this team to have significant cap flexibility. Tremaine Edmunds and Bradley Chubb will lead this team on defense and if Cole McDonald takes another step, they could return to the playoffs.

Twenty:  Sickboy

This is probably the lowest Sickboy has ever been on a power rankings list. The Giants have been a playoff constant for every Madden I’ve been in GO, but with DK in his division things have gotten harder. I don’t see the Giants staying down long, but it will all depend on how well Sam Darnold is able to distribute the ball the Michael Thomas and how often they feed Saquon.

Twenty-One: Poker

Poker knows football, and even though the Bengals without Burrow are a project, it seems very likely he builds them back up to what they used to be. They have elite players in Joe Mixon, Sean Patterson, and Carl Lawson, and young wide receiver Pat Randolph will look to take a step forward in his second year to continue his success as a pro.

Twenty-Two: Ton

The Ravens go as Lamar goes, and unfortunately, he has missed significant time. When he comes back, this offense will be nasty again and Lamar and Hollywood will be cooking again. I don’t see this team staying down long and will be tough for anyone to handle them when Lamar returns.

Twenty-Three: BubbaHoTep

Bubba took a significant step forward in Season Two, with Russell Wilson, Tyler Lockett, and John Hayden on offense and Bobby Wagner and Landon Collins on defense, this team is a tough to handle.

Twenty-Four: Ninja

After surviving a rough cap situation early on, this team will look to move forward stronger

Twenty-Five: Boz

Don’t look now but Drew Lock is leading the league is QBR

Twenty-Six: Kyrell

The Kirkland Spillman Experience

Twenty-Seven: Chosen

Word around town is Deshaun Watson is on the block

Twenty-Eight: Randizy

Feed Zeke and Ceedee

Twenty-Nine: NOP

Very quiet in Indy

Thirty: Rumback

Hopefully gets mad about his ranking

Thirty-One: Ponder

Jordan Love looks to be less of a pick machine so that this elite defense can flourish

Thirty-Two: Tomcat
