Week 17 Vikings vs Packers by poohty_t

In week 17 the Vikings faced on with the Packers in a must win situation for the Vikings in order to have any shot at the playoffs. This was an extremely hard fought game by both sides. Both defenses came to play .As well Arron Rodgers coming off a injury that had him sidelined for most of the season, came back in great form, which was a promising site for the Packers next season. He was 9/9 at one point in the game at least 3 of his incompletes were balls dropped by his wrs. Which is bad news for the NFC North come next season.

The game started off slow for both offenses, with no score in the first quarter. Then in the second Bridgewater threw a perfectly timed pass to WR Stephon Diggs for a td to go up 7-0.The next drive the Packers answer with a long drive capped off by a 20 yard run by Eddie Lacy to make it 7-7. Just before the half the Vikings got a FG to go up 10-7 .

After the half, both defenses held up well for most of the third. The Vikings got a score late in the 3rd with a pass to WR Jarius Wright to go up 17-7. However , at the start of the 4th , Eddie Lacy reminded everyone of past power before he started looking like the stay puff marshmellow man. Breaking thru 6 Vikings defenders attempts to tackle him, and at one point with 3 guys on him, Lacy muscled his way thru them all , and broke lose for a 55 yard run for a td to make it a 17-14 game . The Vikings offense could not move the ball  and gave it back to the Packers. With the season on the line, the Vikings defense stepped up as they have numerous times this season to save the lead and held off the Packers offense, to end the game 17-14 in their favor .

After the game we got some comments from coach Tizzel. " Im proud of how our guys played tonight, with the season on the line they played their hearts out and found a way to win. Although i do not think we will get in the playoffs , due to a horrible call by the refs in week 16 ,at the end of the game, that cost us the game, it was kinda out of our hands at that point. Overall , we did ok , 500 isnt our goal, but its something to build upon. Alot of people thought with us trading AP we wouldnt be where we are at the end of the season. We hated to see such a good player go , but we needed the cap space for our teams future. His replacement McKinnon was doing alright until he got hurt in week 11 and was out the rest of the season. We have 10 draft picks right now, so we hope to be able to help our team out with some of them, maybe even trade a few for some players to really help solidify our team alittle more. We have a ton more work to do , but all in all, we will take this season and look to our future. We are somewhat happy with the season, but not at all satisfied. We have tough opponents in this division , so no divisional game will ever come easy. We are looking forward to playing in our new dome next season though, that will be a welcomed change for everyone here."
