After adding the suggestion box and with my own ideas, I have decided to add three awards to be voted on going forward. Both are going to involve more community assistance, so their existence is going to depend on how much effort everyone is going to put forth.
The first two new awards are going to be Comeback Player of the Year and Most Improved Player. This will involve me starting a thread towards the end of the year, and then you guys will have to post players(most likely from your own team) that you think should be up for these awards. Comeback Player of the Year, is going to be more for players who were good and dropped of statistically for any variety of reasons(injury, depth and so on). Most Improved will deal more with younger players that have made big jumps from one year to another, without any prior success. At first, I was going to combine these two awards, but for a couple seasons I am going to leave them separate to determine if there is enough participation to warrant 2 different awards.
The third new award is going to probably involve the most effort by the community. This award(as mentioned by poohty in his message) is going to be a Highlight of the Year award. I wanted to do a highlight of the week esque award, but I am going to start with a Highlight of the Year and once again depending on the participation level, it can potentially evolve going forward. Now this is going to be a single play highlight, not a full highlight video of a full game. Whenever you have a great play in a game, upload it to the site. For people that are not familiar with the process, I am going to detail how I find the easiest/quickest way to upload a highlight.
Step 1. Immediately after the game, go to the section, in game, that says "View Highlights". It's in the bottom right of the screen where you would normally exit the game. Scroll through the highlights and find the play you want to upload.
Step 2. Once you have chosen the play, I take time to find the angle that works best for the highlight and then hide the menu.
Step 3. I can't remember if this is the default setting, but I have it set up so I can double tap the "Share" button on my controller, and it starts recording. Once the recording has started(there should be a small indicator on one of the corners of your tv), you play the play from beginning to end and then hit the "Share" button again to end the recording. This should give you a small clip of just the play, that you can upload to the site.
Step 4. Now step 4 is going to be uploading the highlight to youtube or facebook. I have set up a generic facebook, that anyone in the community can use, if they would like to participate and do not want to use their own facebook or youtube channel. The username is maddenballasclub@gmail.com and the password is madden12.
If anyone has any questions or would like some help, then let me know. Also suggestions year round are accepted if anyone has anything else they would like to see added.
