So far this year, the Lions have given contract extensions to newly acquired Frank Clark, Brett Hundley and NFL sack leader Kerry Hyder Jr but they have informed several veterans that they will no longer be negotiating contract extensions until the end of the year. The long time Lions veterans looking for extensions have came away disappointed with the decision, but understand that it is a new regime in town that wants to bring in it's own players and they know they have to finish the season strong to impress Coach Chetty Twelve or one of the other 31 teams in the league. Veterans Golden Tate, Legarrette Blount, Ezekial Ansah and Tavon Wilson were among the players informed that contract extensions would be cut off. With the Lions off to a fast start, Coach Chetty Twelve is banking on players wanting to continue strong play in contract years over being upset about not getting the extensions they feel they deserve.
