Jags pull out the win in week 3

In week 3 the Ravens came into Jacksonville, looking for their first win of the season. The Jags coach and the Ravens coach have known one another for a very long time. So both coaches know one another's tendencies they have picked up on over the years. Which provided to be a very low scoring, good defensive battle, just how both coaches like to play.

The game started off slow for both teams, with a int by the Ravens, some punts and even a missed fg from the 7 yard line by the Jags , had the game at 3-0 going into the second quarter. That is where the Jags rookie HB Fournette broke a tackle and ran in for the score from the 3 yardline, only to have the kicker miss the extra point  to make it a 3-6 game. The score remained that until after halftime. Both defenses really were looking good.

Then in the second half the Jags started it off by driving down the field but stalling out having to kick a 45 yard field goal, this time it was made  and the score was 3- 9 . Then the Ravens came out and marched themselves down the field but had to settle for a fg once again , to make it a 6- 9 game going into the fourth. The Jags offense was going well until Bortles threw his second int of the game on about the Ravens 38 . The Ravens turned took the ball down the field and go to about the 10 yard line , when QB Flacco threw an ill advised pass into coverage right to the defender on the 1 yard line. DB Tyler Patmon was there for the pick to change the tide in this game as it seems the Ravens was about to take the lead. Then on that drive Bortles hit Allen Robinson on a 57 yard pass for a TD to seal the deal with about 3 minutes left to go in the game, putting them up 6-16 . The Jags defense smothered the Ravens run game, only giving up 19 yards running the entire game helping them to the victory.

After the game coach Tizel had this to say " We knew coming into tonights game , their coach knows me well and i know him well, we always have dog fights and have for years now.So we were prepared for a low scoring outing , and we knew we had to control their run game and hope to force Flacco into some bad passes which we did. Both teams fought hard tonight and neither has anything to be disappointed about. It was a hard fought game, and really , i felt it came down to the int near the goalline in the 4th. Patmon i believed saved the game for us , as their offense seemed to be clicking again as they had just drove down the field on us pretty easily. That turn over really turned the momentum from them to us in a critical time period with just about 4 minutes left. Now we gotta prepare to go into New York next week and build on this momentum we have right now. Its still very early in the season and we have alot to work on."
