Vikings vs Titans Week 1 Highlights

In Week 1 the Vikings faced off with the Titans to start the season.Both teams had high expectations for the new season. On the opening drive the Vikings stopped the Titans and forced a punt. However this was blocked, and ran in for a TD by the Vikings special teams who seemed pumped to start the season that way on the first punt they faced. However the Titans didnt let that get them down. HB Demarco Murray broke off a 75 yard run , after sheding a few attempts at tackling him to tie the game at 7. 

The Vikings stormed down the field and scored  on a 5 yard run by AP for a TD to go up 14-7 . Then the Titans turned around and Murray, who the commish is now questioning if he is on steroids , broke another long run for 65 yards to tie the game up. After that there were a few turn overs traded by by teams and a missed fg by the Titans.The Vikings intercepted a pass on their 30 , but couldnt move the ball .They did manage a long FG to go up 17-14. After a punt, the Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater gets sacked and fumbles the ball recovered by the titans at the 34 yard line. Then Rookie HB Derrick Henry bust thru the line, shuved a defender to the ground like a child, and ran for 34 yards to take the lead.They however missed the extra point off the upright to make it 14-20 .

 

The Vikings answer with a long drive ,capped off by a HB McKinnon 2 yard run to go up 24-20. On the next drive, MLB Kendricks picks off the QB the Titans believed in so much they traded the Texans Meriota for Brock Osweiler. They capped the turnover off by scoring a TD on a 5 yard run by FA pick up HB Bryce Brown to go up 31-20 before halftime.

 

The Titans came out of the half on a drive that stalled out and attempted a 56 yard FG, that just missed off to the left.The Vikings could not manage but a FG out of the goof field position to make it 34-20 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd.Teddy Bridgewater, threw one of his 4 picks, at the start of the 4th and set the Titans up with great field position. They scored a TD but missed another extra point to make it 34-26 with 6 minutes left in the game.Teddy Bridgewater then threw a pass on an out route that was picked off by McCourtey on a miraclously streched out diving int on the 33 yard line. Setting the Titans up perfectly for a comeback.However 2 plays later, OLB Anthony Barr intercepts Osweiler , who threw 6 ints on the day , to get the ball back for the Vikings.

 

The Tians defense stepped up big though and forced a quick 3 and out. Got the ball back on the 20 after a punt for a touchback.However after 3 plays , Osweiler thew another int , this time returned for a TD from the 40 to give the Vikings a 41-26 lead with 3:25 left in the game to seal the game and end the hopes of a comeback.

 

Both teams fought hard in this season opener. At one point before halftime, HB Demarco Murray had 4 carries for 140 yards. He broke about 25 tackles as did his partner Rookie HB Derrick Henry. While he didnt have as many yards, he had a ton of broken tackles and stiff arms that broke many defenders sprirts.Both QBs struggled throwing numerous picks in this game. A total of 11 turnovers between the two teams. Coach P'Dizel said after the game" I think both teams came out super pumped to start the season and both made mistakes that cost them points.That Titans run defense was stout most of the game, and their run game was top notch.We saw some of our FA pick ups we made in the offseason come out and play well for their first outing for us.Looking forward to what they can add to this team this year and the years ahead.We must cut down the turnovers, but for the first game , i know everyone was over excited and got carried away. The score didnt show it, but this was a tough battle between two good teams today.Glad we only have to play them once in a blue moon.Now we must get ready for next week, facing our divisional rivals the Packers who always play us tough."
