Mike Hawk stood tall going into Week 10. His Texans were 6-2, with a one game lead in the AFC South over their opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars. But then, disaster struck. Star QB Deshaun Watson lay injured on the Reliant Stadium turf. The crowd was silent, afraid Watson's season was over and the season would fade away with him. All eyes turned to former Twilight actor Brock Osweiler. Brock tried his best took some snaps and threw some balls, but most went to the other team. Brock finished the game with 7 - SEVEN - interceptions. The Texans lost by 25. The Jaguars beat Mike Hawk; The Jaguars beat Mike Hawk savagely.
The Texans fell into a tie for the division lead, and had little hope of success over the coming four games without Watson. The Texans remembered why the had traded gifted Osweiler to the Browns for absolutely nothing in return just a few seasons prior.
But then came week Week 11. Osweiler threw no interceptions and more touchdowns (4) than incompletions (3) en route to a dismantling of the Denver Broncos 46-7. For at least the time being, faith has been restored in Houston and implosion of the Texans no longer seems certain. Fans are even calling for Osweiler to remain the starter after Watson returns in a month.
The Texans brass has largely declined to comment on who will start when both are healthy, but, at least for now, the plan is for Mike Hawk to rock out with his Brock out.
