Meet your SFL Season 42 owners. The AFC has only one true first-year owner for the Madden 22 cycle with the Indianapolis Colts. That kind of stability will make the competition fierce in the AFC as all the owners are fairly familiar with each other. The AFC also boasts five former SFL Super Bowl Champions and two other owners (Bills 0-1 and Chiefs 0-4) who have played in an SFL Super Bowl.
AFC NORTH
Bengals - The Bengals are led by long-time SFL owner CincyIceburg3. As his name indicates, he is a true Bengals fan and won 2 SFL Super Bowls with the Bengals in the Madden 21 cycle. He also has a Madden 20 SFL championship with the Colts.
Browns - FSL_Smalls returns to the SFL after a short absence to take over the Browns from RClanton who returned home to his beloved Carolina Panthers. Clanton brought an SFL Super Bowl to Cleveland in the 21 cycle and the team is still stacked. The sky is the limit for the Browns. How quickly Smalls can shake off the rust will determine how far the Browns can go under his leadership.
Ravens - KillerKevin425 was pleasantly surprised that his Ravens fell back to him in the Madden 22 selection draft. An avid Ravens fan, Kevin hopes to avoid the problems that plagued him last cycle where he showed flashes of greatness but always seemed to wither in the playoffs. Or maybe Kevin's commitment to sim-style play is so strong that he does it on purpose. Real-life injuries have hampered the Ravens' roster. Kevin will have a tough first season of the 22 cycle for sure.
Steelers - The Steelers are the second-longest tenured ownership in the SFL with Djsteelcity412 at the helm since Madden 16. The Steelers are always among the best in the league but a change at the QB position is inevitable early in the 22 cycle. The Steelers will need to hit a homerun early with their QB in either the draft or free-agency to maintain their competitiveness in the AFC North.
AFC SOUTH
Colts - ZoZo925 is the lone new owner in the AFC this cycle. He will have his work cut out for him as he faces SFL vets week in and week out. His opening week 1 win 38-0 over the Seahawks sent the meassage that you can't dismiss him as a possible contender depsite being new to the league. The Colts organization has won 2 Super Bowls under 2 different owners. Can ZoZo make it a 3rd?
Jaguars - Thatiger74 switched conferences for the Madden 22 cycle. After building a strong team in San Francisco last year, the lure of Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne was too much to keep Tiger in SF for another cycle. Lawrence looked good in the Jags week 1 victory at Houston to kick off the SFL's 42nd season. The Jaguars will be a contender with their stout defense and excellent coaching from Tiger. Unfortunately, Etienne was injured in pre-season, so the team will have to wait a few weeks to see the Clemson stars on the field together.
Titans - Madman0213 found the pressure of the New York market too much and left the Jets behind for more laid-back pace of Nashville and the Titans. New York may not seem that bad once Madman finds out how passionate southerneers can be about their football! Madman's pound-the-rock style should serve him well with the Titans as the team seems custom-made for his offensive philosophy.
Texans - SteveSteve7216 returns to lead the Texans for another cycle. The Texans just can't seem to get over the hump and the loss of JJ Watt on defense and several players on offense won't help that situation in Houston. Steve has taken the team to a couple of AFC Championship games and hopes to do the same in 22 and take that next step to get to the Super Bowl.
AFC EAST
Bills - Mndvl20 returns for a 2nd go with the Bills for Madden 22. The team fell short in their Super Bowl appearance during the Madden 21 cycle, but they look well poised to be a contender for several Super Bowl runs in 22. The toughest test for Mndvl may be just surviving his own division. The AFC East is filled with some of the best owners in the league.
Dolphins - Two-time SFL Super Bowl champion KellyMcFriend44 (Seahawks & Titans) contiues his tradition of taking on a new team each cycle. The talent of the Dolphins reeled Kelly in for the Madden 22 cycle. Among the best strategist in the SFL, Kelly will instantly make the Dolphins squad a force in the AFC. The AFC East as a whole has a lot of young talent so strategy will be important in getting the most out of the teams and that's where Kelly may have the upperhand.
Jets - TheLionof Mali has had success with the Jets and more recently the Colts in the SFL. The Jets are his true love and he returned home for the 22 cycle. Lion's offensive style wears his opponents down with short passing and effective running to keep the chains moving. A rookie QB may thrive in Lion's offense with it's emphasis on short passing and Zach Wilson will need all the help he can get to succeed where so many QBs have failed before him.
Patriots - StevenSD is finally at the helm of his bandwagon-fan team, the New England Patriots. Unfortunately for Steven, Tom Brady left a couple of seasons ago now. Steven is another of the SFL's excellent football strategist. Unfortunately for Steven, this is Madden and football strategy can be moot with the game's frustrating flaws. Steven is a sim purist which is a good thing, until it isn't. Much like his hero, Bill Belichick, Steven will put a team capable of winning on the fake football field every game so opposing teams better bring their A game.
AFC WEST
Broncos - Banksbeblack, who isn't, in case you were wondering, returns to the SFL after serving a short suspension. :-) Banks brings his talents to the Denver Broncos this cycle. Banks is a former SFL Super Bowl champion (Washington) and always gets the most out of his teams regardless of their talent level. His passing attack is among the best in the league year in and year out so don't let the fact he has a 73 OVR QB in Denver lull you into a false sense of security. He made Garner Minshew a superstar in Jacksonville for god's sake!! It's almost a guarantee that the Broncos will be among the best offenses in the league simply because Banks is coaching the team.
Chargers - Westlakewarrior3 has 2 SFL Championships to his credit and will once again lead the Los Angeles Chargers. That's the bad news. The good news is that at least to start Nwosu is only a 77 star. Owners from the 21 cycle still have nightmares of a Warrior-controlled Nwosu making play after play in the opposing team's backfield. Warrior will have another stacked team for 22. Perhaps the only thing that can slow him down is the wear and tear of playing in the AFC West every week as it may be the best division in the league from top to bottom with 3 previous SFL Super Bowl champs and the Chiefs who have been to 4 Super Bowls, but have yet to win.
Raiders - Last cycle Goozius_Boozler took the Carolina Panthers to 2 Super Bowls (both against Westlakewarrior3's Chargers) and won 1. The Raiders are Boozler's favorite team and he has decided to try and return the glory to the silver and black. He certainly has the football strategy to field a winner and is among the best defensive users in the league, but the AFC West is not the NFC South. Every week will be an epic battle with 4 of the best SFL owners/teams all in the AFC West.
Chiefs - Jh34_1, or Joe as we know him returns to the Chiefs for his 3rd cycle in the SFL. Joe has the best QB-WR combo in the league and has several MVP and WR of the year awards to prove it. His offense is among the best in the league every cycle and has carried him to 4 SFL Super Bowls. But, as the saying goes, defense wins championships and that is where the Chiefs always seem to struggle. If Joe can find some defensive playmakers to go with his offense then he might be able to hoist the Lombardi during the Madden 22 cycle and get that proverbial 0-4 monkey of his back.
Those are your AFC SFL Madden 22 owners. The AFC looks to be dominant this cycle, but the game will tell the tale. Good luck to everyone!!
