6 weeks through the season and the WFT sit at 3-3 (2-1 in division). Coach Beaux has made some minor changes to the lineup:
This move was made in efforts to help get Superstar RB Antonio Gibson bigger running lanes. Over the last three weeks Gibson has racked up over 300 yards and 6 total touchdowns... Coach Beaux has made it a main priority for the WFT to focus on the run game.
We just resigned Gibson to a 4 year contract and look to continue to run our offense through the 25 y/o out of Memphis.
Rookie Corner
Many fans were not happy about the WFT trading HOF safety Landon Collins and Kendall Fuller for draft picks but Alex “Showtime” DuVall has quickly become a fan favorite! Currently, 2nd in receiving yards and 1st in touchdowns among rookie receivers, DuVall maybe the complementary piece that Haskins and McLaurin need.
Gabe Moreland has quickly become a leader on this WFT. Moreland leads rookies in total tackles. The WFT defense has had trouble stopping the run this season allowing 4 100+ rushing yards to opponents in 6 games (28/32 in the SFL for rushing yards allowed.)
On a brighter note.. The secondary has not lost a step, even after trading away two key pieces. The WFT rank 5th in passing yards allowed and continue to harass receivers.
Coach Beaux has recently implemented a new defensive playbook.. Due to the lack of pressure being generated:
“We currently have one of the best pass rushers in the league (Chase Young) but we’ve been forced to play him at OLB, with the new scheme, we will be able to send Chase at the QB a lot more.” - Beaux
