1. Congrats on a big win this week. Second shut out of the league. Thats now 2 wins in a row. How does it feel?
Better. I think what I lack is continuity with this game. In the past I've played in 2 leagues and it helps me identify and correct my bad habits sooner. Playing two games the same day gave me rhythm I haven't quite had and I felt more focused by the time I played the Cards. It also makes a world of difference to have Mixon back. The rookie Chase Brown did his best but he didn't exactly put fear in defenders hearts. Mixon makes my offense more well-rounded and less predictable, so hopefully we build on the momentum.
2. Didn't take long to figure out the Cards game plan, were there any surprises on their end that caught you off guard?
That they traded a 1 for Jacobs and didn't run the ball enough. I actually forgot they got Jacobs and thought I would be in trouble because I didn't game plan for the run. It worked out in my favor because the Cards decided to go with a pass heavy approach.
3. You started the first half strong, why'd you slow down in the second half?
The game was mostly out of hand by then, so it was more running the clock and eventually swapping my star players out to avoid injuries and itchy suspension trigger fingers.
4. Next week you face Coach Retto and his Seahawks, whats the plan vs his team?
It's more about building on what I've learned from the losses and what I've corrected in the past two wins. More balanced play calling, calling plays that play to the strength of my players and learning to throw the ball away when in FG range. Retto has a good squad this cycle, so it should be fun to see how he does with better talent around him this time around.
