NFL Week 5 Power Rankings

Ok ladies and gentleman were a quarter of the way through the season and the men are starting to separate themselves from the boys.

After doing my poll about content it was about 50/50. I’ve decided to make the power rankings 50/50. 50 percent serious and 50 percent jokes. Just remember that wins and losses doesn’t always have a big impact on ranking. I wanna say this now so I don’t have to post it on multiple teams rankings…just because you beat bad teams doesn’t make you good.

1. Buccaneers- The Bucs have a top 10 defense and even though their offense isn’t top 10 it hasn’t stop them from scoring or winning games. The Bucs have proven that they are the top dawg whether you like them or not…calling them cheese might make you feel better but it sure isn’t helping you beat them.
2. Eagles- The Eagles have a top 4 defense and are #2 in takeaways. When your #2 in takeaways it doesn’t matter if you don’t have a top 10 defense. This team took the best team in the NFL to OT and almost won. I believe the Eagles have what it takes to beat the Bucs.
3. Rams-It’s hard not ranking the Rams the best or 2nd best team in this league because I think they’re up their. I just don’t think they’ve played enough elite talent this year to make the case over the Bucs or Eagles. The don’t have a top 10 offense or defense. They do however have the highest turnover differential and most takeaways in the league…did I mention they have ZERO penalties. I’m a big fan but I need to see them beat some more elite teams to move them up.
4. Panthers- The Panthers only loss has come by the hands of the Bucs in week 1 and they haven’t loss since…what have they did since week 1 that’s notable? They put the boots to the Colts and destroyed a saints team that has a top 3 defense. The Panthers defense isn’t anything to scuff at ranking in the top 10 and ranks top 5 in takeaways.
5. Texans- Their only loss came to a tough Colts team in week 1. Since then the Texans and their top 10 offense have been unstoppable. A big reason for their success is they’re ranked 2nd  in turnover difference and ranked 4th in takeaways. One word that comes to mind is opportunistic.
6. Chiefs- I had to do a double take when I saw I had ranked them this high…right now a lot of teams are trying to find themselves but I think the Chiefs got a handle on things. They beat a tough Jets team and had a late game collapse against the elite Texans. I realize the Packers and Dolphins aren’t exactly top flight security…but the Dolphins are a seasoned team who definitely aren’t an easy win (unless the Jets are playing them).
7. Browns- The Browns had me concerned after a double digit loss to the Steelers…Then they go and blow out the Colts and make up for it. The Browns boast a top 5 offense and have managed to stay ahead in the win column. The real test comes next week against the Texans.
8. Colts- I finally feel how Obi-Wan felt talking to Anakin in Star Wars…let down. He was my dark horse last year and my favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl this year…Did he give up too much for DK? Maybe but we wont know until the year is over. I really think they will rebound and come through.
9. Steelers- You know what’s scary about the Steelers? They have the #1 defense in the NFL…know what’s not scary? They have the 28th ranked offense. It doesn’t matter how good your defense is if your offense can’t score. They need to fix this immediately.
10. Cowboys- It’s now “we dem boyz” season…ear plugs are selling out all over Texas… Not us we’re all on board…maybe not dark horse yet but close…They are average with most of their stats except they rank 2nd in penalty yards…and only have 1 loss against an elite Rams team.
11. Jets- The Jets used their #2 ranked offense to finally beat the Patriots. Now they have beaten their bully its time make a statement and win their next 2 games against the Ravens and Eagles. They do have a big obstacle though….remember I said they have the #2 defense? They also have the #3 ranked defense…from the bottom (30th ranked defense for all you slow to catch on).
12. Titans- The Titans made a big trade for an aging QB during the off-season and it seems to be paying off. While they have a top 10 offense their defense leaves something to be desired…at least their flush as far as turnover differential goes. I was impressed the way they handled the Steelers #1 ranked defense. Their schedule seems light with playing the Bengals and then the bye week…the real challenge starts week 7 vs the Ravens… and it doesn’t get much easier after that. They have 8 games left against playoff teams from last year.
13. Cardinals- The Cardinals have had a tough schedule and came out 2-2. They have a top 10 offense and I believe they can bounce back. One thing that concerns me is they continue to turn the ball over and are only 47% in the red zone. They have the talent they just need to make the adjustments.
14. 49ers- The 49ers have the #2 ranked offense and are ranked #1 in redzone efficiency.  Their team identity is a mystery though. Their only loss has come to a tough Cowboys team…while 2 of their of their wins come from teams with a combined 0-8 record. Are they good at beating bad teams or good?
15. Patriots- I never thought I would see the day that the Patriots fell out of the top 10…no I’m not a groupie…its just they’ve always been relevant. They make adjustments and always compete. For the first time in a long time they don’t have a top 10 defense or offense. They play a tough Cowboys team next so its time to see these adjustments we’re used to…
16. Saints- I’ve heard a lot of Saints fans screaming “who dat”…not because they’re excited, but because they don’t recognize this team. They still have a top 3 Defense…they just can’t seem to win when it matters.
17. Lions- The Lions are the definition of average. They beat the bad teams and lose to the great ones…one saving grace is their redzone scoring which is 72%. They benefit from playing in a weak division. If they wanna do more than win a division title they need to get better.
18. Ravens- The Ravens are -8 in the turnover battle this season…and maybe that’s why they have fell so far in this power ranking…that and their 1-3 record…their only win coming against the Bengals. The Ravens are in trouble.
19. Raiders- They have 2 sim wins and their 2 other wins…come from teams with a combined record of 1-7. Not impressed.
20. Dolphins- I feel like a broken record…the Dolphins 2 wins come from teams with a combined record of 1-7. Their 2 losses were to playoff teams and it wasn’t close…They’re average on both sides of the ball… Changes need to be made or they will be on the outside looking in come playoff time.
21. Giants- I can already here the haters…”What, how can you rank them above other teams with wins”? Yes they don’t have a top 10 offense or defense…yes they are 0-4…BUT 2 of those losses are to one of the best teams in this league…the Eagles. The other 2? A tough new comer in the 49ers and an old veteran in the Dolphins. This team has the ability and talent…can they put it together though?
22. Bears- I had to do a double take when I saw the Bears were 3-1…Then I looked at their schedule. They got blown out by a 1-3 Packers team and then beat 2 teams with a combined record of 2-6…the other win was a sim win.
23. Washington Football team- I received a little bad feedback after rankings them low last week. It was a long day and I apologized and sad next weeks will be better…why? Because sometimes I make mistakes when I’m tired…now after researching them I’m not sorry…they are 1-3 and their only win comes from the 0-4 Chargers. Almost beating a good team is still a loss. AND YES I know they have the #1 offense…but I wanna see that offense beat a team with a winning record and then ill move them up higher.
24. Bengals- The Bengals only wins are against winless teams…that’s right I said it…when they play anyone with at least a 1 in the win column they lose…not saying that they will never win against a team whose won a game…just stated facts as they come to me.
25. Vikings- The Vikings are 2-2 and that’s something. They beat the 1–3 Packers so there’s that…oh and the 0-4 Chargers. If they play a lot  teams with low winning percentages they may make the playoffs this year…which is likely since they play in one of the worst divisions in the league.
26. Bills- The Bills came out hot beating the Chargers and Patriots…then lost 2 straight to the Jaguars and Raiders…Then we realized the Chargers aren’t that good and the Patriots are having performance issues.
27. Jaguars- The Jaguars aren’t necessarily a bad team, they’ve just had a tough schedule. They have 3 losses to teams with a combined 9-3 record…and they did beat a Lions team that made the playoffs last year.
28. Packers- The Packers came out on fire blowing out the mighty…Bears 69-6. Since then? 0-3. Now their losses come from the Chiefs Vikings and Buccaneers. 2 of 3 were in the playoffs last year. They still face 4 playoff teams from last year and some other teams who were on the cusp. Are they the team that blew out the Bears or are they the team that lost 3 in a row…time will tell.
29. Falcons- Their only win came against the 0-4 Seahawks… They have a tough schedule this year…this may be one of their only few wins.
30. Chargers- The Chargers keep coming know matter how many times you knock them down. They have an unmeasurable drive to win…they just can’t win to save their season.
31. Seahawks- If you looked at the score you woulda thought they played a good team…but nope it was the 1-3 Falcons. The Seahawks are a disaster.
32. Broncos- I don’t want to beat a dead horse (get it…Broncos keep getting beat) but the Broncos are a mess…Teams are looking past the Broncos when they see them on the schedule.
