Dallas Cowboys: DoubleNutt47
Dallas was a popular choice but in the end Nutt wins the Cowboys sweepstakes and fills out the NFC East. He did have them as his #1 preference for destination so tally another one in that category. Roster Notes: We go from one of the least talented rosters in Detroit to one of the most in Dallas. We also know it is no secret that the Madden ratings guy is a Dallas fan and overrates his home team so they get a little bump in the game too. Dak, Dez, Zeke, that OL, Jaylon Smith, Charles Tapper (was a Madden star in M17), and that’s just to name them off the top of my head. Dallas drafted DE Taco Charlton in the first round and he may develop into something special. Unfortunately, he’s 22 years old which Nutt considers too old for a rookie. He prefers High Schoolers I guess. Play Style Profile: When you think about Nutt in game, you think about trades. Admittedly, he loves trading more than any part of the game and he spread his love all over M17 as the most prolific trader DWHO has seen. We were hoping that may get reined in with him in Dallas. When it comes to actually playing the game, don’t bother defending the run, he can’t run so doesn’t. On the other hand, he proved to be a very effective passer as evidenced by his camping out at the top of the passing charts every season. Almost every game with Nutt is a shootout. M18 Projection: Lots of top 10 picks and this time he won’t have to trade for them. With Bundy and ovfd in the division, we both have a challenge ahead of us. Expect Dave Campo type results from Nutt’s Cowboys.
Denver Broncos: MoneyMarty
Opposite of Dallas, Denver was not a popular destination and was not on Marty’s list. His Houdini act kicked him down the placement list quite a bit but really we thought he fit best in this division to round out the AFC West anyways. Roster Notes: Contrary to much of the whining we saw on chat recently, Denver is not shabby. Lynch is a young QB that can be developed and he has seasoned wideouts in Sanders and Thomas. Don’t sleep on Kalif Raymond either, he’s a scrappy little guy if developed. Roby, Talib, and TJ Ward in the defensive backfield are stout and experienced. Brandon Marshall and Von Miller are anchors in the front 7. Keep an eye on how Marty develops rookie CB Brendan Langley. He is a converted WR to CB, 6’ with 4.43 speed, and has potential to develop if the effort is put in. Play Style Profile: Marty isn’t the most vocal in our group so some forget about him. Probably forgotten by most was the deep playoff run he had in M17 making it all the way to the NFC Championship falling to DC who went on to lose the Bowl. He plays a strong, balanced game on both sides of the ball. M18 Projection: As with most every division, this is a change of scenery for Marty and a big change in opponent play style. A lot of people will sleep on Marty but he may surprise a few teams along the way. He will have some success and some heartache for M18 with some up and down seasons. He will need to win the division to make the playoffs. No wildcard berths coming out of the AFC West. |

Cleveland Browns: Zuke
Blows my mind that these two guys are so stubborn about getting a team and that team is the Browns. Whatever, Zuke gets them this year and Tosh returns in 19. The annual rotation starts now. Roster Notes: Not a whole lot to talk about here. The best thing about the offense is the OL… zzzzzzzzz, unless you want to talk about Osweiler and Kenny Britt. The defense isn’t much more exciting. The standout will be rookie DE Myles Garrett who will be a beast. And Cleveland has stockpiled picks so there should be some hope for the future to fill the holes that are apparent all over this roster. Play Style Profile: Zuke played well in M17 making the playoffs a few times. His balanced game helped get him there. He is a better than average runner and an efficient passer. He is very conscious of sim play and prides himself on calling a sim game. M18 Projection: Zuke rounds out a nicely balanced AFC North. If the Power Rankings were completed, these 4 would be bunched close together. That said, this division is now up for grabs. Zuke will experience a similar level of success to what he had in M17, winning seasons with a few playoff experiences.
New York Jets: Tosh
Love it or hate it, if you take jerseys out of the equation, this is the most appropriate competition level for the second best player in the league. Save your vitriolic rhetoric, Tosh stepped up and volunteered for this and maybe I’ll add more commentary about how this came about in a later article. Roster Notes: I haven’t verified it, but this may be the youngest roster in the league. Only two players have more than 8 years experience. Just a few more players with more than 5. With the inexperience/potential comes questionable talent so how long will Hackenberg be the guy here? The Jets drafted Alabama WR ArDarius Stewart to add even more speed (4.49 40) to their speedy group of receivers. Speaking of rookies, the Jets will most likely be starting 2 rookie safeties with the heralded Jamal Adams out of LSU and less-mentioned Marcus Maye out of Florida. Play Style Profile: Tosh is excellent as an adaptive player. He can grind away 10 play drives or hit homeruns with big plays. He morphed between a heavy short game passing offense to a shifty run game to a deep passing game as needed to find success and he found it. His defense is stout and he makes few mistakes. M18 Projection: Tosh was a constant in the playoffs as was his div mate Luigi and that competition will continue in M18 with the addition of Pride and Rugger in the mix. You can count on at least one wildcard coming from this division of the AFC every season and Tosh will get his fair share.
