Dude, I just read your rules, and aside from repeating yourselves over and over they almost read like mine. Except for certain restrictions. So I assume now that Powersweep is a lobby league. Thanks. Have a great day. SIM is to do what happens on Sunday. Which is what we try to emulate. All these so called SIM leagues that have all these rules and restrictions in place, have safe leagues. It's for games to be close and hold users back. Like I said, be open minded. Make users get better. Experience different styles of play. Forbid if I come out in power I and run 3 different plays or back to back and make you wonder what I'm running... Cause it's chess- not checkers- and we play a football game. Or you could just ask what I'm running so you'll be prepared. |

Ok, here is the thing, no two people are probably going to agree 100% on what each considers SIM. While Sim does mean , replicating what you see on sunday , like not going for it on 4th down on your own side of the field early in game. However because this is a video game, with limited AI as well as other factors, there are some things that may happen in real life , that in this video game can be abused and used for an extra advantage. Each commish normally decides what the league will accept and not. Like it or not, the game is limiting in some ways, like letting someone run hurry up all the time. Its an unfair advantage for an offense in madden many feel. Also , its not at all anything one sees in the real NFL on any given sunday. Thus , how would that be "sim"? Its not something that really happens in real life. Sure teams might use it once in a while, but its rare , def not all game, and not every possession. Same for running same plays all game. Watch the real NFL and show me teams that run the same exact play 10 times a game. They dont. Sure because the defense adjusts. Problem is , you can adjust your defense in madden, but again the AI is so limited, its not like a full team of real life pros, who can read well enough and recognize quickly whats coming because , they not only saw it in video footage during the week in prepping for this game, but they have seen it 4 times this game already.Just remember why Seahawks lost that super bowl to the Pats. They hadnt ran that play all game. However, the one time they ran it, a young CB recalled seeing the formation in preparing for the game, and read it perfectly to not only stop it , but win them the super bowl. In real life , those real players would eat those plays alive after a few times run. In madden, you could call a dif defense, and a good one to stop the play and it still gain yards. Its just how it is when your dealing with a limited AI in a game that cant mimic real life in some ways. Thats not saying running the same formation numerous times a game is unsim, because its not, but running same plays all game is. Now , some leagues have alot of rules , like ours, some have little to none because they are basically lobby leagues, or new to what people will do in madden leagues without them. Each league has its own place and can find owners to fill them all , as long as those running the leagues manage everything well and keep a level play of field for all members .Because the term "sim" differs from person to person thats really why there is a need for all the different types of leagues out there. Some guys want hardly any rules, some want alot. Our league has been around since madden 12. We started with a base set of rules ,and over 5 years have added to them ( some taken out once AI issues were fixed in game). We have a rules committee of 5 owners, whom our veteran owners picked . The owners themselves are allowed to submit new rules or rule removal proposals to the committee ,with video evidence of reason of need as well, and the 5 vote on to amend a rule, add one or remove one. This is really good way to handle each different league, to fix and suit your long standing owners and find new members , when needed, to fill spots. At the end of the day , it boils down to what the veterans in your league feel like they as a majority consider Sim and that your league fully enforces those rules and keeps the playing field even for all your owners. Doing that is whats important. We could argue all on what each considers sim, but at the end of the day, what matters is what your owners consider sim, and sticking to that for that league. Best of luck! Last edited by poohty_t (1457626126) |

Great answer. That's very well said and actually hits it on every aspect of what I was actually looking for. Cause truthfully I DID NOT want anyone to explain SIM, but give a great explainable definition that didn't come from my mouth that is open minded and has great vision for what users could adjust to and find pleasure in playing in. Thanks for the response. Good luck to you on your league/leagues. |

Contrary to what you read on the Internet, that user retired from the league. He was not booted. I have documented proof from his own message board post. His message changed when he began posting publicly. You should really think about Poohty_t's explaination of a sim league before advertising your league as TRUE SIM, as posted above. If you really understand his post, you are intentionally misleading potential league members to join. |

Its kinda of a " to each their own" as far as interpretation. Its also why anytime someone new wants to join, first thing i require is they read all our rules and agree to follow them. If its too much for them, thats fine , no need to waste their time or ours. If they agree to em, then they are bound by them in our league. Our league is probably one of the more stricter ones , but its because our vet owners prefer to take out as much of even possibly questionable stuff ( to keep from the , "well i thought" or " i didnt mean to" arguements really , especially where lack of CPU player AI is concerned. But we stay pretty full, except from may -july when we drop a few due to how fast we move and too many things going on during lat spring in summer in their life. Even then we keep a large number of guys until next madden drops. Just goes to show, theres a niche for all types of leagues and amount or lack there of rules in each. I recall back in madden 12 and 13 it seemed like leagues wanted to compete against each other , commishes wouldnt communicate with each other , like they were some life long rivals. Thinking , our league had to be the best above all the others, is really a childish kinda of mentality. We all love football and CFM , that should be a bond that joins us together , not spreads us apart. It should never be , us against the rest. If a league is well run and managed it will survive and get members . Thats really all it takes. We really should work more on helping one another instead of seeing things like some competition of whos league is "best". When really there is no true way to scale which one is best and which isnt. Because what some in one league like, others in another may not like that about that league and vice versa. We all want the same thing.... a better cfm next year and for it to continue to improve for ourselves and our owners. |

Another great answer. I again appreciate the response. This is too, what I'd like. Commishes to work together. I asked this question and then was attacked on my own thread, by a user that's never played a down in our league. My league is rookie, but we've stayed full for going into 4 seasons. Low turnover. We've had 28 users on the same team. We had one user just recently return stating he enjoyed our league and it is run smoothly. When you say you're a SIM player, and you line up against another player that runs no huddle, you shouldn't just yell lobby and start texting a commish or complaining. Or if a player throws his entire team in coverage to include one of the refs, then again, to begin ranting in chat is not the way to go. Actually play football and think what you need to do to stop the offense or how to counter the defense. I've been in leagues where users argue the rules more than anything else. The one thing I can say in our chat is we have some great smack talk which carries over to great games. True Sim is how I promote my league because if you ask any user in my league or that's played in my league I doubt they'll trash it. We built it!!! We decided to name a MLB The Show league after it! If anyone interested, we do have 1 slot in AAC and 2 slots in the sister league, Endzone Empire. Hit me up. 210-544-1532. Good luck to you guys in your leagues. |

The only true "SIM" league is one where people act as the General Manager (i.e. trades, depth chart stuff, drafting, etc.) and then every single game is "simulated" on a regular basis. Other than that, every league is just a league with a different set of rules than other leagues. |

For the record, I did retire from that league. Was I being forced out/being asked to leave?...that is a completely different topic.

SIM is a very jaded word at this point and people use it to define anything they don't personally like about someone else's game play. It is sort of like religion though, there are 1000 different flavors to choose from and it changes every day. I've always thought better owners is better than having more rules, but it takes up a long time to build up communities like that with people who mostly see eye to eye. About any league you go to you can find some arbitrary rules, such as people freaking out if a FB dive is used on a short yardage conversion (very SIM actually), but they pay no mind to the overpowered goalline toss plays that people use instead.... If SIM meant true simulation, it would probably be a lot more liberal than the rules you typically see out there. I promise you that if an NFL coach saw that their opponent could not stop their favorite play (say the 01 Trap), they would keep on running it regardless of the opponents feelings. The Steelers actually did this to the Bengals in 2014, running power left with Bell behind Decastro no less than a dozen times in one game. Bottom line - Don't join a league where you don't agree with the rules. Don't argue with a commish on rules that were in place before you decided to join. Suggestions are always cool. Try and be a little more specific about what you expect from game play instead of using the word "SIM" as a crutch, because it means different things to different people. |

Being SIM can mean a lot of different ways.
Its very difficult to translate the game in real life into a video game.
The word SIM is too broad and has many different definitions.
All leagues are different, and all leagues are subject to scrutiny.
